    The Cloud Database Engineer is a dedicated leader in supporting business-critical applications and services. The role involves a combination of database administration, software engineering, architecture, cloud infrastructure, and database design, management, and optimization. The Cloud Database Engineer is critical for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of cloud-based applications and services. You are responsible not only for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based databases, but also for network segmentation, compliance, better high availability and disaster recovery, inventory & license management, risk assessment, and governance.

    By joining a leading high-performance Fintech product organization, AWS DBE approach on deliverables will require a focus more on applications and less on platforms. Security & standards compliance driven-mindset will be sought in every aspect of the role delivery.

    Teamwork and an ability to contribute as part of a group is of essential importance and critical to role progression. DBE leadership skills will be instrumental in promoting team collaboration & preventing siloed work, often seen by enforcing separation of duties through roles or departmental function, effectively acting as a „glue“ across various technology teams.

    Reporting into Head of Cloud Operations, senior DBE role is an integral part of Transfermate AWS Platforms, Database & Linux Applications team, operating in close collaboration with Software Development Leads, Heads of Technology and C-level executives representing the company.

    What you will be doing:

    • Establish, oversee and enforce compliance to Database management standards, associated with configuration management, provisioning/decommissioning, access control, maintenance, backup function, monitoring, high availability, elasticity and BCP/Disaster recovery
    • Adopt new technology and continuously Improve systems, their interoperation, dependencies and established processes around the same
    • Acquire new skill set continuously to gain new insight and improve all aspects of service delivery
    • Oversee and manage effectively all aspects of Relational and Non-relational Databases supporting Application function across all product environments
    • Operate seamlessly without hesitation in mission-critical Production environments
    • Create and Maintain Documentation, including diagrams availing of adopted Atlassian products
    • Produce monthly Management Reports
    • Apply Automation in avery aspect of the role delivery to lower all risk associated with manual action
    • Conduct Root cause Incident Analysis, propose and implement resolution
    • Responsibility for data Models and data design across the business, while operating closely with Heads of Development and bringing in improvements recurringly
    • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, monitoring of system health and alerting
    • Conduct capacity and availability planning, to ensure high performance and dynamic scalability
    • Plan and Conduct scheduled maintenances, apply release hotfixes inside and outside office hours on a need to basis
    • Conduct Query plan analysis and improve transactional throughput performance, while working in close collaboration with Heads of Development
    • Support the organization strategic and tactical planning & Present on planning, articulating approach clearly

    Requirements

    The skills that you have:

    • Broad insight and experience in High-performance transactional throughput Data Model Application Architectures
    • Mindset focused on Security and standards compliance
    • Hands-on Experience in building and supporting Enterprise grade, Elastic Production environments
    • Expertise in deploying and managing HA PostgreSQL based workloads on-premise /or alternative ex. Maria DB/
    • Hybrid Cloud and Database workload migration experience
    • Cross Database engine migration experience is highly preferable /Microsoft TSQL – PostgreSQL/
    • Cloud native Database service experience in mission critical production environments /AWS, GCP or Azure based/
    • Data Analytics, Data Lake, Data Warehouse or similar product experience
    • Database Partitioning, Data Tiering and Clusterization
    • IaC Automation technologies
    • SAP Cloud experience considered a plus
    • SQL Development background
    • Python, Perl, Bash/KSH/AWS CLI scripting experience

    Education & Certification requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering
    • 12+ years of professional experience
    • PostgreSQL, MariaDB or Microsoft SQL Server technologies
    • AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Amazon AWS Solutions Architect or similar
