Cloud Systems Engineer

The Cloud Systems Engineer is responsible for the creation, configuration, and maintenance of the production Cloud systems.

A Day in the Life of the Cloud Systems Engineer:

• Design, deploy, and maintain, system environments and applications within the PROS Cloud infrastructure, using code, configuration, provisioning, and monitoring tools.
• Install, configure, and upgrade DataStax Cassandra DBMS on multiple environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, data inconsistencies, and software bugs.
• Perform query performance tuning and participate in root cause analysis sessions.
• Put in place reliability, fail-over, disaster recovery, and 24/7 support mechanisms wherever possible to ensure the flawless operation of the production systems and NoSQL databases.
• Guide and teach the less experienced system engineers.
• Participate in on-call rotations.

Required Qualifications – About You: 

We are looking for candidates who possess the rare combination of the following achievements, skills, and behaviors:

• 3+ years’ work experience as NoSQL DBA, SRE, DevOps Engineer, or a similar role;
• Intermediate understanding of non-relational databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, OpenSearch, etc.) environments, architecture, functionality, administration, setup, and maintenance;
• Experience with NoSQL Database Automation;
• Clustering/load balancing concepts and technologies;
• Good knowledge of configuration management tools – Puppet, Ansible;
• Experience with scripting languages, e.g. Python, Bash, or others;
• Knowledge of Agile methodology and Service Delivery best practices;
• Excellent time management, organizational skills, crisis management, and problem-solving skills;
• Innovative, fast learner, and willing to share knowledge;
• Good communication skills and good command of the English language;
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related;
• Keen to learn new technologies.

It will be considered an advantage if you have further knowledge in:

• Oracle, SQL, and NoSQL databases. Replication, Sharding, performance monitoring;
• Experience with Apache OpenSearch;
• Version-control software (GIT preferably);
• Linux system administration (RHEL, CentOS), performance monitoring and tuning;
• Experience with Networking protocols, routing, firewalls, etc.;
• Containerization technologies: Kubernetes; Docker is strong advantage;
• Monitoring tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Graylog;
• Cloud platforms: Azure;
• Automation orchestration tools: Rundeck, Foreman;
• Web server configuration: Apache, Nginx;
• Applicable IT Certifications.
