Java Developer (Pharmaceutical Manufacturing)

Company Background:

The customer is a unique non-profit entity dedicated to revolutionizing and expediting the process of delivering new therapeutics to patients worldwide. Established in 2020 by a collaboration of prominent pharmaceutical companies, this entity is creating a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform that will fundamentally reshape the collaboration between industry and health authorities. The goal is to facilitate the efficient and timely delivery of safe and effective treatments to a broader population.

Your Essential Duties will include:

• Propose effective and scalable solutions, considering factors such as performance, security, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with client Lead and team members to evaluate different approaches.
• Actively participate in architecture and design discussions.
• Define and document technical architectures that meet business requirements
• Ensure that the chosen architecture aligns with industry best practices and standards
• Work closely with product owners and other teams to clarify technical requirements and use cases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bridge communication gaps.
• Provide technical insights to ensure that use cases are technically feasible and aligned with project goals.

The technical skillset we are looking for would be:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with Java. A recent focus on Java 17 is preferred.
• Familiarity with SQL / NoSQL storage, ability to reason about their strengths and weaknesses (PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB)
• Familiarity with the QA processes in software development
• Past engineering experience running high-load and high-uptime services in production
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD
• Level of English – from Upper-Intermediate (spoken/written);

Preferred Qualifications

• Software security, secure coding practices, PII management
• Experience with Cloud platforms like GCP (preferred) or AWS
• Experience with Observability using Datadog (preferred), NewRelic, or Prometheus
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux systems
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform (preferred)
